This print was made using printed silk, printed cotton which was then stitched onto calico or muslin.
I then scanned all of that into Photoshop and printed it onto Fabriano paper using pigment based archival inks.
Then the figurative element (mummy) was applied using collagraph.
I am extremely fond of this one. Perhaps I should make some more - a series.
Oh and with this print I won first prize at an International Print Competition held In Ottawa Canada
Made these little guys (there was a flock of them) while I was in the midst of trying to get a print together for a competition whose brief was to make a print using only linoleum. This link takes you to where I uploaded a “plan” of the image and there are some examples of artists working with this material (lino) that I find inspiring.

I am someone who goes with the image - the story - the feeling - the human ………ultimately it became too difficult to get it together. BUT I loved the image and I will make it at some point. Although I may not necessarily use only lino block and of course it may not look exactly like that plan you see in the link..
Creating a website when you’ve little money
I have started setting up website with Wordpress, Live journal, Behance and I can not remember the names of the others …………..the thing is it takes time never mind whether it takes money. I did have a website with OPP ( approx £120 per annum - which included domain name and email account) which was pretty good and probably the best deal around for fine artists and other visual artists. I could not keep with those payments so had to let it go.
I am trying to get to grips with each of the web providers tools so we will see which one wins out. Currently I have my main portfolio website address as in
http://www.ainescannell.com linked to a blog with Blog-spot which I have been using for about 5 or 6 years now and so its the one I am most familiar with.
